What Does My MRI Scan Test Report Indicate?

Question: Hii sir.,

please find attached the report of MRI of the pelvis of my brother in law (male, age :42) . I am not able to understand the report in easy terms. Can you please let me know what abnormalities the report show?

it's a perianal fistula

Hello,

this is a perianal fistula which is a little tunnel inside the tissues close to the anus. This is usually caused by inflammation. An infection may cause pus collection (perianal abscess). Other causes are also possible like inflammatory bowel disease, surgery, etc. When the pus is drained this tunnel can be left behind. In your case there are two openings, one in the intestinal area (internal) and another one in the skin (external). If this tunnel is patent then intestinal content may leak to the skin through the external opening. Pus and blood may also appear when you strain or spontaneously. Surgical correction is required in most cases.
