What Does My USG Test Result Indicate?

default
Posted on Thu, 23 Jun 2016
Question: I have IBS since last 12 - 15 years.

Recenty, I have done my USG of Whole Abdomen.

During the test, Doctor at Radiology told me that, it is clearly seen that I have problem of gastric. Too much gaseous.

But, in interpretation, he wrote that,

"Mild fatty change in the liver".

Is this something new to become serious for me?

TIA

Brief answer- nothing to worry about
Detailed answer
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
I have read your query, seen your reports and understand your concern.
While some fat is common in liver but if the amount of fat becomes around 5-10% of your liver, then the condition is called as fatty liver. Since the amount of fat increased is very minimal in your liver, you have been labelled as having mild fatty liver.
Although the most important cause for fatty liver, in modern times is consumption of alcohol, there are other reasons also like:-
-Obesity
-Diabetes
-Hyperlipidemia
-Increased consumption of herbal preparations, painkillers, steroids, certain antibiotics etc.
It is a perfectly reversible condition.
Kindly do the following:-
-Decrease consumption of fatty items
-Stop or limit your alcohol
-Exercising regularly and shedding the weight
-Stop eating fast food like burgers, pastas, colas etc.
-Increase intake of fresh fruits, green vegetables
-Drink plenty of water.
Your fatty liver would reverse in next 3 months with above said measures.
I hope it helps, however you are most welcome to revert to me for any further query.
Best of luck
Thanks

Hello,
Mucus threads are common in urine.
although you do have some increased amount in your urine,it doesn't sound to be significant since your rest of urine report is normal. patients of IBS do tend to have some increased amount in their urine.
Drink plenty of water.
Nothing else to be done.
Repeat the test after 6 weeks.
Thanks
