What Does My Ultrasound Scan Test Report Indicate?

Question: TRANS - RECTAL ULTRASOUND ( TRUS )

IMPRESSION:
Prostate is normal in size and echogenicity, measures about 4.0 x 2.5 x 3.5 mm, weighs about 19.2 gms.

Focal increase in vascularity in its left half of transitional zone - suggestive of prostatitis.

Peripheral and central zones are normal, with no obvious nodules within.

No evidence of calculi, cysts or calcification.

Capsule is normal.

Seminal vesicles on both sides are normal.

The above is the result about me taken 5 days ago after blood was seen in semen. I have a little doubt regarding the second sentence which says, FOCAL INCREASE IN VASCULARITY IN ITS LEFT HALF OF TRANSITIONAL ZONE - SUGGESTIVE OF PROSTATITIS. What it really means, is there any abnormality. Please clarify.
Thanks

Brief Answer:
It means inflammation of prostate gland. might be the cause of the blood

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
The report means that your prostate is of normal size and surrounding structures are normal. But there is increased vascularity suggestive of prostatitis which means inflammation of prostate gland which might be due to infection of prostate or some trauma to the gland. Mostly even urinary tract infection in recent past also can cause prostatitis after latent period. But prostatitis may or may not cause blood in semen.
I would also advise you to get a testicular scan done too to look for any trauma or any collection inside testis as it may also give rise to blood in semen.
I am suggesting testicular reason because prostatitis will usually have other symptoms like fever, burning micturition and pain in pubic region which you haven't mentioned in your query. But it could be also asymptomatic as in your case. But rule out testicular involvement by getting scrotal scan too.
Consult an urologist for either of the reasons. If infection is present, proper antibiotics course will be helpful. If any other reason, urologist will be the appropriate specialist for the required management.
I hope I have answered your query well. If you have any further query kindly ask back will be happy to answer them.
Thank you

Can taking IGNITOR tablet and NANOLEO TOTAL XXXXXXX cause inflammation of the prostate gland or cause blood in the semen. I took only for four days those medicines and because of blood in the semen I stopped taking it.

Brief Answer:
could be possible

Detailed Answer:
Hello, thanks for following up.
Ignitor is tablet containing multivitamins which is safe enough and wont cause the inflammation of prostate.
But about Nano leo. the contents and the effects mentioned are pretty bizarre. It is resulting in exaggerated effects and might have resulted in injury which in turn must have caused the prostatitis. Its better that you have stopped taking the medications. Ignitor I suppose you can continue but do not start Nanoleo as of now.
Wait for 2 days and observe whether your symptoms are decreasing or not. If not then as I suggested above get a scrotal scan done.
But do consult an urologist because actual clinical examination might reveal something which we cannot do online nor you would have felt important to mention it.
If you have any more queries kindly ask back.
Thank you

Brief Answer:
mostly no ill effects. but avoid for few days

Detailed Answer:
Hello, thanks for following up.
Usually blood in semen will not cause any ill effects to your wife nor to the baby if conception occurs through this semen. But as of now we do not know the reason for blood or rather not exactly sure of it.
If it is due to some infection then it might be transferred to your wife.
I would recommend to wait for few days now that you have stopped these medications and watch whether the blood goes away. If it doesn't kindly consult a urologist along with scrotal ultrasound. Get it corrected first and then you can think of having baby.
Better be on safer side hence this advice.
Hope it answers your question.
Thank you
