Question: Hello Doctor,

I have taken Typhiod test: (Widel test)

Salmonella TYPHI "O" : POSITIVE 1:40 dilution
Salmonella TYPHI "H" : POSITIVE 1:40 dilution

Salmonella PARA TYPHI "A (H)" : NEGATIVE 1:20 dilution

Brief Answer:
probably no typhoid infection.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for the query on HCM.

Widal test is used to diagnose typhoid or enteric fever.

It is usually done after 5 days of onset of fever.

O and H stand for the different antigens which are tested.

In your case, positive 1:40 dilution is not conclusive for typhoid fever. So,probably you are not having typhoid infection. However, it must be correlated with clinical features.

But let me know if you have fever or loss of apetitte or any other symptoms.

Regards,

Dr.Sandip kabra
