What Does My X-ray Reports Indicate?

Question: Hi Dr. Remy,
Thanks for all your help so far but I need some more help.......as per your suggestion I asked treating doctor to change the antibiotics. Before changing the medicines he wanted to see the X RAY whether there has been any improvement or not since my MOM already consumed these for 6 days.
I got one X Ray done & there was good improvement so accordingly doctors changed her medicines & lower down the dose as well (from 750 mg to 200 mg). She continues these for 5 days then again another X Ray was done there was further improvement. Again he changed her medicines & asked to take it for next 10 days after that he is suggesting to get CT SCAN done to get more visibility & confirmation whether that infection is all vanished or not. I need to visit the doctor on coming Thursday (5th Jan) by that time she will be finished with all her medicines but I need your suggestion do we really need to get CT SCAN done or is there any other alternative?

Good to hear from you again,
I am indeed glad to hear that your mom is show promising improvements.
As per the description provided by you, 2 xrays were taken once treatment was initiated, which does show signs of improvement.
If possible I would like to view those Xrays taken and its reports so that I may be able to guide you further.
Also, kindly share me the details of the change in antibiotics she has been on.

Thanks Doctor for the response.......
* I have attached all the prescriptions since antibiotics have started
* Also, I have attached 1st X Ray report after consuming 1st set of antibiotics (refer Prescription dt (12th Dec).
* There is one more X Ray that was done after having 2nd Set of antibiotics (prescription dt 19th Dec) but don't have that report right now since doctor saw that on the Radiologist computer screen on emergency. Final report will be getting in our next visit then I will attach. As per doctors findings on this 2nd report he recommended next set of antibiotics (prescription dt 26th Dec)
Thanks,
xxxxxx

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
Thanks for writing back,
I'm extremely sorry for the delay in replying,,
I have reviewed the attached reports and from what I have seen, there is a xray report taken first after initiating antibiotics. But since the follow up Xray was not provided, I was not able to look into the current status of extension of the lesion.
As per the prescription reports, three different classes of antibiotics were used according to the sensitivity of the organisms to antibiotics. This is precisely the reason for the improvement in her symptoms.
A CT scan was advised for her as a follow up scan to look into the extend of the lesion. Xray of the chest will not be able to give a clear idea of extension of lesion but merely a presence of a lesion. The exact extent, texture, the surrounding structures all will be visible in a CT scan.
I would say it would be for her best that your treating doctor might have advised for a repeat CT so that any further fear can be ruled out, though she would be exposed some amount of radiation. Also since I was not able to get a look at the further Xrays taken it is quite difficult for me to comment on further management.
Please revert back for any further queries

Yes, it would be better if you could attach the pic of xray itself along with the report.
