Hello,
Welcome to Health Care Magic.
Thanks for writing.
I am Dr.Muhammad Ahmad. I have read your question completely, i understand your concern and will try to help you in best way possible.
Rheumatoid arthritis is a systamic disease it effects joints more but it effects other parts of the body as well...
Fibrosis is actually the scared lung usually..the places where lung is damaged beyond repair gets cavities or fibrosis...this is actually a wasted space in a lung..
This can happen due to arhtritis and this can happen due to drugs given in arthritis like methotrexate.
This is not a dangerous condition untill fibrosis get in a large area of lungs and doesn't allow the patient to breathe normally.
There is no treatment needed for this but close monitoring of the fibrosis lung functions and adjustment in medication is needed. Patient has to be continuously checked up for worsening or fibrosis or lung function.
CT scan is also required to be done if xray finds fibrosis.
I hope this answered your question, a
if you have more please feel free to ask.

Also pt does not have any symptoms so does this mean its early stage!
Cause needs to be found.

Hello
Thanks for writing back ...it needs the lungs tonget 60%+ fibrosis before the symptoms.set in till then lungs keep compensating so if patienr doesnt have symptoms.it means early stage.
Best thing to do here is to discuss the matter with pulmonologist and rheumatologist they need to find out the cause of fibrosis if its the arthrisits...controlling arthritis will.control fibrosis. If a med is causing it then med has to be changed or the dose adjustment is needed.
Regards
If it is stopped to progress then prognosis isnt that bad.

Hello thanks for writing back,
It doesn't carry a poor prognosis as such if it is not allowd to progress if it keeps progressing then it carries bad prognosis.
Now if it is caused by arthritis then controlling arthritis will control the fibrosis from progressing..
Did the doctor say anything about what future treatment plan they are having? any more tests planned?
Regards.
