What Does My X-ray Scan Test Report Indicate?
I am forwarding some Xray images of mine. I would be grateful if you could forward these to an osteopathic doctor or arthritis specialist could look at the first three images and advise. I fell down and hurt my right knee, two years ago, and walk with a cane. I am in immense pain and use heating pads, balms, massages, acupuncture. Is there a way of regenerating the synovial fluid or collagen? I do take hyaluronic acid and Joint supplements. I also had a MONVISC injection when I fell down, but the pain continues.
What would a specialist doctor suggest?
Thanks and regards,
Osteoarthritis right>left knee; follow as advised
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Welcome to HCM.
This is Dr. Swarnava Dattagupta answering your query.
I have gone through your query, seen your xrays and understand your concern.
From the xrays, you seem to have osteoarthritis both knees with affection being much more in right knee. There is no obvious fracture, but due to fall and trauma, arthritis might have aggravated in the right knee. The joint space between femur and patella and also in the medial joint line, both are significantly diminished. In this stage, regrowing of collagen or synovial fluid might not be possible. It will need a knee replacement sooner or later if such changes continue and pain persists.
For now, local dry heat, exercises in the form of static quadriceps drill, painkillers like tramadol-paracetamol and supplements like oxaceprol or univestine will be helpful. Also avoid squatting and crossed legged sitting.
It would be also advisable to consult and get clinically checked by an orthopedician.
Hope this was helpful.
Consult me for any further queries.
