What Does My Blood Report And Ultrasound Scan Report Indicate?
Question: Hi, I have recently done a blood test and ultrasound on my liver. The blood test reveals a slightly elevated ALT level and the ultrasound report says this: "The liver is normal in size and echogenicity with slightly heterogeneous echotexture but no focal liver lesions were identified. Liver surface is smooth. Pancreas appreas normal. The gallbladder is non tender and appears normal with gallstones. There is no bile duct dilation. CBD measures 1.5mm, Kidneys are unremarkable and spleen is not enlarged. Abdominal aorta appears normal. No ascites. Conclusion: Mild heterogeneous hepatic echotexture but no focal liver lesions are seem. No other abnormality."
Do you know what this means? I am a chronic hepatitis B carrier and just a but concerned about this. I have normal blood test and ultrasound when I perform half yearly blood test and annual ultrasound until now. Thank you very much.

Brief Answer:
Might be early chronic liver disease
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist you.
You are a chronic hepatitis individual.
With this background an ultrasound scan showing heterogenous echotexture with other things normal may indicate, early chronic liver disease which means the liver is affected by 'scar' tissue.
I would advise you to get a fibroscan to assess the liver status..
I hope that answers your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr.R.K.

Thank you for the reply. Do you know what may cause the possible acar tissue, since my previous ultrasound 6 months ago has no such abnormality. Is it any of he diet or lifestyle features that can cause this in such a short space of time?
Many thanks for your help!
Many thanks for your help!
Brief Answer:
Probably due to Hepatitis B infection.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
The probable "scar" tissue may be due to chronic hepatitis B infection.
To confirm the presence of scar tissue you can undergo a fibroscan.
No lifestyle or diet are not responsible.
