What Does My Blood Test Report Indicate?
Question: Male age 61. My RBC has always been low and fallen steadily from age 36 to age 61 (4,400 to 3,530) and Hb also 14.8 to 11.8 over same period. I checked for iron deficiency and instead found Ferritin 310 (high). Others: Serum iron 84, TIBC 285, Transferrin saturation 29%. What could this mean? I feel fine. Fit and healthy except mild HBP and BPH. I don't take meds.
Brief Answer:
Nothing to worry.
Detailed Answer:
Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
Slight fall in hemoglobin is normal in old age. Your iron and ferritin is normal so you don't have iron deficiency. If you are healthy and fir then no treatment is required. If you feel weaknesses or other problems then you should investigate for cause.
Hope I have answered your question, if you have doubt then I will be happy to answer.
