Posted on Thu, 19 Nov 2015
Question: My wife is having 100F fever from 24th Oct 2015 very early morning. before that night she was having lower body pain badly. Which is normally mild at all time.
Went to a local MD. He kept us in 3 days observation with following mentioned meds with CBC diagnosis. After taking meds fever goes down but again it comes back in 3-4 hours with pain.

Report: Only mentioning abnormal counts w.r.t range:
Lymphocyte = 11% [20-45]
Eosinophil = 13% [1-6]
RBC = 3.8 [4.5-6.5]
PCV = 35.2 [38-47]
MCH = 32.1 [27-31]

Brief Answer:
Parasitic infections

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for the query

I have a few doubts regarding the history you have given me and I need to know more details in order to come to a better conclusion

1. The fever is from 24th of october and today is the 25th of october. When was she under 3 day observation?
2. What exactly do you mean by 'lower body pain'? Is the lower part of the body paining or lower abdomen paining ?
3. did she have loose stools or vomiting

However from the reports you have provided it looks like she is suffering from a parastitic infection. Most likely an abdominal parasitic infection as the eosinophils are on the higher range. I recommend Tab Mebendazole twice a day for 5 days

Please get back to me with the details, I am awaiting your reply

Regards

No She doesn't have vomiting but sometimes she had loose stools. And She was having lower body pain like the body below the waist including the waist also, During the first day of her periods she usually has excessive pain on her lower abdominal. Her neutrophil count is 74% And one more thing her lymphocyte count is 11% ,Is there anything to worry about??
About 3 day observation: She is currently under observation as in 3 day medication only.

Brief Answer:
Parasitic infection

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for updating me. The fact that she has occasional loose stools along with a raised eosniophil count means there could be parasitic infection which will require treatment.
I suggest that she takes Mebendaole like I have written in my previous reply to you. The change in the neutrophil and lymphocyte percentage is because of the rise in eosinophil percent. This is called as differential count.
Lower body pain is an unrelated issue at the moment. I recommend getting Vit D levels done to see if Vit D is deficient in the body.

I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me

Hello Sir,
Thanks for the replies.
Few days ago I was having fever (continuously for 3 to 4 days 100.+F) and leg muscles pain only as I said earlier and now I am having mild pain on my both of the arms (including palms )and both legs if I am moving it. Just like it is felt after heavy exercise. sometimes feeling a bit like nausea also. while I relax and start to sleep I feel like very light vertigo. Just keeping all the points even if it is minor.

I have one more query
For about a month now, it feels like I have thick phlegm/mucus stuck in my throat and can't clear my throat. actually I am feeling like it is persistent from a long time, say 2-3 years. How to clear my throat completely. Please help me out.

Brief Answer:
Clearing the throat

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for getting back. Persistant phlegm could be because of chronic sinusitis, which also explains why you have mild vertigo. I recommend you to get x Ray of the sinuses done to check for it. The only way to get rid of the phlegm is to by treating the inflamed sinuses

I recommend you to do the following
1. Steam inhalation three times daily
2. avoid cold food and beverages
3. avoid smoking
4. keep yourself warm and avoid exposure to extreme cold
5. syrup ambrolite s will bring out the sputum. I suggest 2 tsp in the morning and night

I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me
