Brief Answer:
The test suggests that you have an infection with herpes simplex virus

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I have gone through your query and I have also reviewed the attachments.

The report suggests that you have an infection with herpes simplex virus. However, it does'nt distinguish whether it is hsv -1 Or hsv- 2 infection. I would suggest the same test for your partner too.

I would like to gather more information from you in order to be able to guide you better. Do you have a history of genital sores?Or cold sores around mouth?

Herpes simplex virus infection usually presents with sores. Hsv - 2 mostly causes genital sores and Hsv- 1 causes cold sores, on lips or around the oral mucosa. Treatment for herpes infection is episodic and consists of a week of Oral antivirals i.e acyclovir Or valacyclovir. Herpes simplex virus, can reactivate from time to time and produce recurrent sores i.e genital sores Or cold sores around the mouth therefore, each episode need to be treated in the same way.

Brief Answer:
Oral antivirals would be required to treat an episode of herpetic sores, not otherwise

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

Medicines would only be required if you Or you partner complain of sores (genital sores or cold sores), not otherwise i.e if asymptomatic, no medicines are required.

It is imperative that your partner too gets tested for possibility of herpes infection.

Treatment of an episode of herpes (genital Or oral) is with Oral antiviral i.e either acyclovir Or valacyclovir. Acyclovir is usually given as 400 mg, three time a day for 5 days and valacyclovir as 500 mg, twice daily for 3 days. These are prescription medications and should be taken under supervision of a dermatologist, therefore, I suggest that you talk to a doctor in your vicnity for the needful.

As I already mentioned, there can be recurrent episodes of herpes in future and they need to be treated in the same way.
