Detailed Answer:
Hi xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Thanks for writing in to us.
I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.
1. Blood urea and serum creatinine is increased and shows mild problem with kidneys. It is important to know if this was increased from when the stroke occurred. This is to be discussed with the treating doctor.
2. Sodium should be between 130 to 145, potassium should be between 3.5 to 5.0 and chloride ahould be between 98 to 105. After ischemic stroke the brain loses its normal control over electrolyte balance in the body and it can take 6 to 12 weeks for recovery of normal regulation of electrolytes to occur.
The low sodium is a concern and he should get treated for it in hospital.
3. Hemoglobin 10 is low and by improving nutrition the hemoglobin will return to normal.
4. LDH, alkaline phosphatase and B12 will return to normal slowly.
5. In conclusion, please take him to hospital and get his sodium level corrected and serum creatinine level is to be discussed with his doctor.
Hope your query is answered.
Please do write back if you have any doubts.
