default
Posted on Wed, 28 Sep 2016
Question: I had blood work done. My MCH is low. My RDW is high and my ferritin is low.
My grandfather died of multiple myaloma (?) (bone cancer) not sure of the spelling. Does my blood work indicate a possible connection,?

Brief Answer:
No it does not indicate any blood cancer.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.

Your low MCH and ferritin with high RDW suggest iron deficiency. It has no relation with blood cancer.

However blood cancer can not be detected by this indices. Please send me your total wbc count and differential wbc count report.

Hope I have answered your question. If you have any doubts then feel free to ask me. I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.

Brief Answer:
Nothing to worry about blood cancer.

Your total count and platelet count is normal. So nothing to worry about blood cancer.

You have iron deficiency only.

Take iron rich diet like jaggery, green leafy vegetables, dates, dry fruits etc.
You should also take iron supplements like ferrous sulphate or ferrous fumarate.

Nothing to worry. Just be relaxed.

Hope I have answered your question. If you have any doubts then feel free to ask me. I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.
