What Does My Blood Test Report Indicate?

default
Posted on Wed, 10 May 2017
Question: Hi...I have a question about triglycerides. I did a blood test yesterday and found that my value is 214 which is higher than normal range (below 150). Other ratios: blood pressure, blood sugar, Cholesterol, and liver enzyme are normal. I am almost a vegetarian, but I ate decent amount of noodles, rice.. I never had this problem before. So I wonder if it's a serious issue that I need to worry about or if I should doubt the accuracy of the results. Personal information: I am a 30 years old female. Height: 165 com and weight: 46 kg.

Brief Answer:
No treatment required for triglycerides (214 )

Detailed Answer:
Hello ,
Considering the clinical information you have given ,
A triglycerides of 214 is not be at all worried about and no drus treatment is required at all .
You are not overweight, Well protected by your hormones at the age of 30 years and considering all other reports as normal with no other risk factors. Triglycerides of 214 is very much acceptable. As You have mentioned carbohydrate rich diet like noodles and rice may increase your trygcerides which may be the very reason for the above valve .
Previously it was believed that trygcerides do no harm and it was only cholesterol which was bad , however in the last decade it has been proven that trygcerides are equally bad if not worse . However treatment with medicine is only required if it very high or you have other risk factors .

However i would suggest some lifestyle changes which may help us prevent a future rise .
- Consider aerobic exercise atleast 45 mins daily
- Quit smoking if you do
- Dont overdrink ( important cause of high trygcerides ).
Maximum 2 drinks a time
-Considering you are vegetarian include nuts , fruits and green vegetables in liberal qualities
- Omega 3 fatty capsules 1 Gm a day is a worthwhile supplement if you take any .

Hopefully I could help.
Let me know if anything is clarification is needed.
