What Does My Blood Test Report Indicate?
Question: My age is 79 years. The comprehensive blood tests done in July showed readings of everything within normal ranges - for example: TLC 7700, SGOT 17, SGPT 21, Alk Phosphatase 87, GGTP 49. I took the flu vaccine shot a month ago.
A few days ago while out of town I developed an unusual fever with shivering, temperature went up to 101.5; started Combiflam which brought it down and kept me comfortable. The last tablet was taken yesterday morning. The fever now fluctuates from normal (morning) up to 100. Blood tests today showed TLC at 3,000, SGOT 56, SGPT 86, ALK. PHOSPHATASE 250 and GGTP 348.
What diagnosis do the fever and deranged test results suggest? Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Likely to be due to a viral cause
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. Possibly you are suffering from a viral infection. Blood parameters can be unaffected or low TLC can be observed in viral infections as in this case. Such infections usually last for about a week irrespective of treatment. You need to take paracetamol or acetaminophen if there is a rise of temperature. You also need to take plenty of fluids to drink. You need not worry about the minor variations in the blood reports. They are not a cause for concern.
Let me know if I could help further.
