What Does My Blood Test Report Indicate?

default
Posted on Tue, 28 Nov 2017
Question: I have been diagnosed with Chrones IBD and FIbromyalgia however in a routine blood test they found my Serum Light bloods high ie 34 compared to normal -20. Urine was normal kidneys creatin up ..other kidney tests normal except for a complex cysts hammoragging around the edge.
They concerned themselves with Multiple Myloma.
However I have been on a months course of Pregdiszone..2x25 mg for 2 weeks and 1.5 x25 mgs for a week and now 1x25 mg for one week..ending tomorrow. This was because my Calprotectin bowel blood tests XXXXXXX from 200 to 1809 and I was having a major flare with Chrones. I am also on 3 mg of Salofalk a day maintenance.
However I suffer fatigue terribly and excessive random sweats to my head face neck and torso. They have found 15 nodules on my thyroid and a suspicious mass goiter on one area of my thyroid via a scan. Bloods for thyroid 6 months ago were normal.
They want to retest bloods for the light serums...now....but I am wondering if this will give a true reflection seeing I gave been on steroids for month and pregdiszone is also used to assist with multiple myloma and if multiple myloma is in its early stages could we miss something? I experience bone pain in my right arm hips etc.

Brief Answer:
Hello. Further test are warranted

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear. I have gone though the query. So you are right as steroids are a part of management for myeloma and it can happen your test results. However, one need to be sure prior diagnosing myeloma and just on light chain test we cannot diagnoae myeloma. You require following tests
Serum.protein electrophoresis
Beta 2 microglobulin
Serum free light chain assay
24 hour urine protein electrophoresis
Immune fixation electrophoresis
Once these tests are available, we can diagnose or rule out myeloma.
Please go for these tests and revert back with reports.
Feel.free to ask further.

Thank you. But do you think I should have the blood tests now, as I am finishing a whole month on Pregdiszone or should I wait for a month for the drug to abate in my system ?
My concern is if say this is the beginning of Multiple Myloma ( very early stages) having been on Predgdiszone for a whole month may affect the true blood tests ?
Or should I have these blood tests now and do a follow up say in 3 months time just to make sure ?

Brief Answer:
Hello. Get the tests done earliest

Detailed Answer:
Hello. I understand your concern. However, myeloma doesnot disappear completely with steroids and is easily picked as you have undergone only one tenth part of the treament by using steroids. If you have myeloma, it will be easily picked up at this point of time also.
Thanks and regards
