What Does My Blood Test Reports Indicate?

Question: Took a blood test and was told I have genital hgv1 and not hgv2. My test results are confusing and my doctor did not explain the results neither did she give me a rx for medicine. I had one bump on my buttock, which didn't burn nor did anything come out of it. Now I have painless bumps on my rectum and near my vagina. They don't itch or burn and the do not have puss in them. I don't know what to do or how to manage this. What does 43.30 High mean on my results? Please see my test results! Please help.
Brief Answer:
You have infection with hsv type 1 virus
Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us
I have read your question and I have also reviewed the attachment.
Any index value of IgG which is above 1.09 is positive for that particular Hsv type.
The index value of IgG specific for Hsv type 1 is 43.30. This means that you have Hsv type 1 infection (it is more than 1.09)
The index value of IgG specific for Hsv type 2 is less than 1.09. That means you are negative for Hsv type 2 virus.
According to this test you have infection with Hsv type 1 virus. This virus commonly causes oro-labial herpes i.e cold sore, rather than genital herpes. Genital herpes is commonly caused by Hsv type 2

I have not had any oral outbreaks just anal/vaginal outbreaks. So do I have genital hsv1? So the higher the index value the more outbreaks? Please help me I'm confused.
Brief Answer:
A higher index does not correlate with greater frequency of outbreaks
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Though type 1 hsv classically cause oro-labial herpes and type 2 hsv classically genital herpes, but this distinction is not absolute and either type of hsv can cause both oral and genital herpes. Therefore you could be having genital hsv type 1.
A higher index value does not mean that their would be more number of outbreaks. Outbreaks of herpes are more common in an newly acquired infection and become progressively less with each passing year.

Should I be on medication and why didn't my doctor prescribe medicine for me? Should I abstain from sex with my partner? Is it contagious? Will I die from it?

Brief Answer:
Herpes is contagious; avoid sex during an episode and use a condom
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Genital infections with herpes virus usually presents with sores/ erosions which are painful/ burning sensation and it only need to be treated during an active episode of sores. Not otherwise. May be the lesions that you have are not of genital herpes so thats why your doctor did'nt put you on treatment. If you can upload an Image I can confirm whether your genital lesions are of herpes or are they something else
Yes, genital herpes is contagious and is passed on by direct contact e.g sexual contact or oro-genital contact. It is not a life threatening infection and more than 50% of individuals in western world have herpes infection (either oral or genital). You should surely abstain from sex during an active episode of genital herpes because thats when their is a high risk of transmission to your sexual pertner. Using a condom at other times i.e during clinically asymptomatic phases would greatly reduce the risk of transmission during sex.

Detailed Answer:
Hi. Thank you.
I have reviewed the Images but I cannot see clearly in these Images.
Typically lerpes lesions are ulcers i.e are sores and they either pain Or burn.
So let me know whether these lesions are ulcers/ erosions?? i.e IS THE SKIN BROKEN?? Or do they have an INTACT SURFACE?

The lesions have intact surfaces. They do not burn and they are not painful. They do not itch.
Brief Answer:
Does'nt seem like herpes
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
If they have intact surfaces it cannot be genital herpes for sure. Genital herpes lesions are ulcers Or erosions i.e have broken skin.
Do they resolve and then happen again (recurring)? Or are they persiting since you developed them? If yes, how long since you have them?
Regards
