Brief Answer:
Needs further investigations .

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query ,based on the facts that you have posted it appears that your father recent blood test for Serum PSA has revealed to be 8ng which is higher than normal range of 1-4 .

I shall be happy if you can post me few more details to help me in making precise comments on his problem.
1) Does he have urinary symptoms like frequency for urination ,urgency, nocturnal frequency etc suggestive of Enlarged prostate which is common at this age .?
2) Have you consulted qualified Urologist ?

Normally raised PSA is suspected to be due to cancer of the prostate unless proved otherwise by doing a multicore prostate biopsy of prostate .However it can also get raised in chronic infection of prostate or Enlarged prostate .

Consult qualified Urologist for clinical and digital rectal examination and get following basic tests done to confirm the diagnosis.
1) Urine routine and culture.
2) Ultrasound scanning of abdomen and pelvis
3) TransRectal Ultrasound Scanning (TRUS)

Further treatment will depend upon result of these tests and final diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions , I shall be happy to help you .
Thanks and Regards.
