What Does My Blood Test Result Indicate?

Question: Hi. I had bloodwork done this morning as part of annual physical exam. Got results online, all normal except sodium 145 and anion gap is 21. I'm very worried because of all I've read about it. I saw results online around 11am and have not heard from my doctor. I'm almost paralyzed with fear about it.

Hi an thank you so much for this query.

The anion gap is abnormal because of the abnormal sodium reading and not that they are explained by different disease states. With no symptoms and this being a totally incidental finding, most likely caused by measuring error. I will demand that this tes should be repeated. There is no reason to be worried at this time and disregard so much written online as it if so generic and never personalized.
