Question: What would hardening of top of lumbar spine indicates?bone density test indicates this and told to get an X-ray. What are we looking for?

Most likely you have some bone overgrowth which is a part of spine degenerative disease. You may have some back pains in the hardening area radiating to leg.
I would not think about anything serious. Most likely it does not need any treatment either.
