Hello

After going through the medical details provided by you of your son I can very well understand the worries of a concerned father. But let me tell you there is nothing to worry for as your boy is doing great.

As per your details he is symptom free, eating well, playing well without any problem or breathing difficulties and that very good.

Regarding xray I want to tell you that as Echo has been done and was perfectly fine so don't worry because Echocardiography is a much more superior test for heart structural as well as functional assessment.

Getting ill with respiratory infection once or twice a year for a kid is normal and in fact that helps in boosting the bodies immune system.

So as a whole he is doing good and there I nothing to worry for.

I hope this information will relieve your worries.

Kind regards

Brief Answer:
Hello Again

Detailed Answer:
The latest xray of 2017 does not shows any obvious lesion in the lung field. Although the cardiac shadow looks bit increased but that is probably due to the inadequate positioning of the baby which commonly happens in kids.

In the old xray the bronchovesicular marking are slightly prominent which could be due to some chest infection that time. Nothing significant.

I hope this information will answer your query.

Kind Regards

Dear sir,
In fact all the three X-rays were taken in the emergency ward because he was suffering from chest infection ..the cardiac shadow is due to improper positioning because he was moving and crying a lot while taking the X-ray...just curious to know whether thymus has anythng to do with it..his doctor always keeps on saying that thymus is large in kids and causes false shadows..is this related to the cardiac shadow u r talking about or is it simple due to improper positioning?

Brief Answer:
Hello Again

Detailed Answer:
Yes your doctor is right that thymus gland is enlarged in kids and it does poses a shadow over the cardiac shadow giving a false impression of enlarged cardiac shadow.

But in your boys xray in the image what I observed is its might be more because of rotation as the baby must be moving around. Am saying this because the tracheal shadow is also not central.

Although it can also be contributed by the enlarged thymus gland shadow.

Now as the echocardiography has confirmed the normal size of the the heart so there is no point of worrying for the cardiac shadow being enlarged.

Kind regards
