What Does My Glucose Tolerance Test Result Indicate?
Uncontrolled blood sugar causes much more harm to body than medicines.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your question.
Noted your concern.
Your GGT confirms diagnosis of diabetes. And with these results I may start you on Metformin (First line medicine in the treatment of diabetes which decreases insulin resistance which is responsible for Type 2 Diabetes)
I have no experience in ayurvedic medicine and not aware of any ayurvedic medicines in the treatment of diabetes.
But lot of researches going on in the treatment of diabetes but till date there is no definitive medicine in any XXXXXXX which is proved to revert pathology of diabetes (insulin resistance and beta cell dysfunction permanently) scientifically.
Whatever the symptoms you have mentioned are most likely due to diabetic neuropathy.
In such case I may suggest-
- Metformin 1500mg per day in divided dose.
- Diet: Consult near by nutrition specialist who can plan diet for you considering your Body Mass Index and food habits.
- Regular exercise: Usually 150 min per week of moderate degree physical activity is recommended.
- Weight control.
- Screening for diabetic complications for which I may suggest
Renal function test
Urine albumin creatinine ratio
Lipid Profile
Foot examination and neuropathy screening
Fundoscopy to know effect on retina of eyes.
Rather than thinking about side effects of medicine on kidney and other organs, you should be aware that uncontrolled diabetes causes much more harmful effect on blood vessels and there by affect almost every organ in the body.
You can follow ayurvedic treatment under guidance of specialist in Ayurvedic medicine but should monitor your blood sugar levels and other parameters as advised above regulary and accordingly decide further line of treatment.
Hope this helps you.
