What Does My HCG And USG Test Report Indicate?
I have irregular periods usually 2-3 montgs cycle. LMP was on Feb 7th 2015. I have taken pregnancy test on Mar 25th. But it showed negative. After that, I have taken the test again on May 21st. It showed positive. Then I went to consult the Doctor, he suggested for USG and HCG test. HCG count is 5700 and USG results show a gestational sac of 5.9mm but no yolk sac and fetal pole. Dr, pls tell me about the chance of a healthy pregnancy??
Ultrasound might help in diagnosis
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to health care magic.I understand your concern. In my opinion your Hcg level might correspond to around 5-6 weeks of pregnancy.
But alone Hcg cannot confirm the pregnancy.Hcg level doubles every 48-72 hours. So it is the change in the level that is important. So Hcg level might be seen for every couple of days.
Hcg level might vary in different people.
As you have irregular periods the date of conception cannot be predicted. But the ultrasound might confirm the diagnosis. As the fetal pole has not appeared still you can repeat the ultrasound after 2 weeks to know the status of pregnancy. It might be too early to see fetal pole around 5 weeks.
Dont worry.Take progesterone hormone supplements and folic acid. Avoid physical strain and take rest.
The health of pregnancy cannot be confirmly said with this.
Hope this satisfies your query.

I'm having severe breast pain for two weeks. Is this related to my pregnancy? ( Somerimes I do have breast pain before the start of menses)
I had miscarried two times because of not having fetal pole even after 8 wks of pregnancy. One in XXXXXXX 2013 and another in Dec 2013. I really worried about those two miscarriages and I hope that the same won't happen this time too. Doctor, what would be the reason for not getting fetal pole ? Is there anything we used to take precautions to ensure fetal pole this time?
It might be blighted ovum
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,I got your query.I understand your concern.
In my opinion the not appearance of fetal pole might be a condition called blighted ovum.
The most common cause for blighted ovum might be genetic abnormalities. The definite
cause for blighted ovum is not known. It might not recur in further pregnancies.
Dont worry .Hope for a normal pregnancy.Avoid stress.
Hormonal supplements like progesterone might help .
If at all this results in abnormal pregnancy then I suggest you to go for karyotyping.Karyotyping helps to rule out any chromosomal abnormalities of you both.
The chromosomal abnormalities are more commonly seen in consanguinous marriages.
If yours is a consanguinous marriage then it might be a possibility. But they are seen even in non consanguinous marriages.
Hope this satisfies your query.
Feel free to discuss further.

We have done karyotyping after the second miscarriage. It was ok for both of us.
This time our doctor didn't suggest progesterone tablets and only folic acid tablets are prescribed. Doctor, If we have to take progesterone tablets which one would you suggest?
Also please tell me about the breast pain that I have mentioned in the previous question. Also, I have severe pain in the back of muscles of both thighs. Is there any relationship with the pregnancy?
breast pain and cramps might be pregnancy related
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,I got your query.I understand your concern.
In my opinion breast tenderness is usually seen in pregnancy. The pain in muscles of thighs might be muscular cramps which is also routinely seen in pregnancy.
There are many types of progesterone. The natural micronised progesterone supplements might be given. But in this platform we are not supposed to prescribe drugs as they are meant to be given only after examination of patient. So discuss regarding them with your doctor and take them under the doctors supervision.
Hope this satisfies your query.
Feel free to discuss further.
