My father has urine volume 3800 ml/24hrs .he is a diabetic patient..and his urine protient level is 243mg/day..does this indicate kidney damage
Brief Answer:
Proteinuria and Polyuria present. However, kidney damage is not a must.
Detailed Answer:
Hi!
Your father indeed has subtle high levels of urinary output and protein levels. The fact is that diabetic patients often have got frequent urination, more so than other people. This is called polyuria. This is the result of his diabetic condition. The high levels of protein in the urine is medically called as proteinuria. This, over a period of time can possibly lead to kidney damage. However it by itself, does not exactly indicate kidney damage, which is apparent on further examination of renal function.
