What Does My Lab Test Report Indicate?
Question: Hi, I'm 24 yes old. I'm 11week 6days pregnant. Today I took first trimester scan. In that report BPD is 18 mm and cephalic index is 72 dolicocephaly. And my consulting doctor says baby's head is little bit big than normal. But, its OK. But I'm having fear about this. Is this normal?
Brief Answer:
possible dolicocephaly
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query to HCM,
Dolichocephaly can be most certainly and decisively diagnosed by 20th week of gestation actually when the brain tissue also develops to a substantial extent and reshapes the head which appears so at 12 weeks. This was likely to be an NT SCAN which if normal then unlikely that there should be any persistent anomaly as such. However a follow up is required and advised with next scan, the anomaly scan at 20 weeks, important to identify any such anomaly or abnormal cephalic development.
