Question: Impression of laboratory test for my husband is minimal Koch in left upper lobe..what does it mean?is the treatment will take long,cause he want to work abroad. He already took medicine for 6months then after he check up again by his doctor he said he will be okay although there is left scarring in the lungs..and now when he try to X-ray again to make sure ..that is the impression of the laboratory.,it her doctor issue him a clearance that he is now fit to work..I just worried that if the other doctor will check him from the agency he will not be qualify because of the laboratory that still says there is minimal Koch in ln the left lobe but her doctor said that it was just a tissue scar.

I am Dr.Barani and I am pleased to assist you.
I presume his sputum was examined for acid fast bacilli ( TB /Koch bacteria).
If he has taken 6 months of treatment, if his sputum is negative for acid fast bacilli and if he is not having any symptoms and if he is having good appetite, then it is less likely that he still has minimal Koch. And that finding in the xray might be just a scar from the previous infection.
