my question is whether I am diabetic/high cholesterol? Whether I need medication at this stage or can I control it by diet and exercise...?
You need medicine for diabetes.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
This is Dr Sameer, cardiologist from Fortis hospital.
HbA1c>6.5 & fasting blood glucose of >126 suggests diabetes. You definitely need medicine for that to prevent its progression. Doing exercise & diet control is also needed & will gradually reduce the need of medications if they are done properly & regularly. To start medication you should do a kidney function test & if that is normal I would start simply with a Tab Janumet50/500 twice daily before breakfast & dinner.
Lipid profile is also not good, but you currently do not need medicine for that as per current guidelines. If you want you can take a natural medicine called PRELIPID. Avoid fatty diet, junk food.
Also get a TMT done as a part of regular check up for cardiac evaluation & future cardiac risk assessment.
Hope you will find this helpful.
