Posted on Tue, 30 May 2017
Question: Hello doctor,
I am currently seeing one of the best urologists in NYC. I am 61. I had a psa reading of 5.1 in October 2016 and a new test six months later showed it to be 6.6. He said he wants to see me in six weeks and says there is a 96% chance, according to my scores, that I have no significant cancer. What is your assessment, please?

Brief Answer:
Cancer of the Prostate has to be ruled out .

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for query .

Raising levels of PSA are suspicious of cancer of the prostate and has to be ruled out.
.
It is general protocol accepted all over the world that the persistent raising levels of PSA are suspected to be due to cancer of the prostate unless proved otherwise by multi score ultrasound or MRI guided prostate biopsy .

Your Urologist will most probably take a call as regards biopsy on your next visit after 6 weeks .

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions,I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.
