What Does My Liver MRI Indicate?
To differentiate between benign and malignant
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for asking.
I am Dr. Jyothi BL and I will be answering your query.
Sorry to know that there is a possibility of cancer in liver.
MRI can be helpful in differentiating benign from malignant tumors. It can accurately gauge the size of the cancer mass/ masses, there location and also any invasion/infiltration within the liver. Invasion/infiltration indicates cancer. It will also show any invasive involvement of bile ducts, blood vessels and surrounding areas. Additionally any lymph nodes in surrounding areas of liver can also be seen.
Contrast agents with MRI will help in characterizing the specific type of tumors.
However, biopsy of liver is necessary through FNAC or trucut biopsy for confirmation of type of lesion.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
Take care.

Depends on lesion
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for asking again.
Sorry for the delay.
From here, everything depends on type of lesion.
MRI and followup biopsy will reveal type of lesion.
Is it benign or malignant. Benign good. Benign can be excised. Normal life.
Malignant - is it excisable, has it spread to other systems, does it require chemotherapy, is it operable etc
Without a diagnosis, difficult to comment anymore. Will wait for further reports.
Take care.
Any further queries, happy to help again.

We are doing a ct scan of pelvis & adomomn areas, what is this for
Possibly looking for other areas involvement
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for asking.
CT of Pelvis and abdomen areas is done to identify any enlarged lymph nodes, or other tumors, which could have moved from one location to another. The tumor could be from liver or could have moved from other locations to liver.
It is also used to stage tumors.
Take care.
Any further queries, happy to help again.

Difficult without reports
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for asking again.
At present, as I have not seen any reports, it is like guessing.
If you give me reports, I will able to tell you something.
Looking at your age, in the elderly, symptoms are not helpful. Investigation can help.
Sorry, I can't say further of the present scenario.
Any further queries, happy to help again.

Inflammation
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for asking again
All of these can be seen due to liver inflammation due to release of inflammatory mediators.
These interleukins or inflammatory mediators, act in causing pain, which can lead to stomach weakness. As your appetite is low due suppression of appetite by the same inflammatory mediators like interleukin, you have become weak.
Even without tumor in liver, just plain liver damage can cause all these symptoms.
Most abdominal conditions can present with similar symptoms.
