What Does My Pelvic Ultrasound Scan Report Indicate?
Question: Hi there, I have just received a report from a pelvic ultrasound I had done today - indication being severe period pain/dysmennorhea. I have a family history of endometriosis. My report says:
-My cervix is unremarkable.
-My uterus is anteverted and normal in size. No uterine fibroids are seen.
-My endometrial cavity is empty. The endometrium is 5mm in thickness and and has an appearance consistent with the proliferative stage of the menstrual cycle.
-Both ovaries were identified and have a normal appearance.
-There are multiple follicles bilaterally and in normal distribution. No adnexal masses are seen.
-There is a minor amount of free fluid within the pouch of XXXXXXX
This all sounds fairly good but could you please interpret this for me?

Brief Answer:
Your reports seems to be normal.
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
Thanks for trusting us about your health care.
I can understand your concern here.
I have gone through your reports and it seems to be normal.
Mild fluid in pouch of XXXXXXX can be a normal finding.
Multiple follicle in ovaries can be a normal finding or it can be due to PCOD. PCOD can be confirmed by hormone test if you have other symptoms of polycystic ovaries.
There is no finding suggested of endometriosis in your case.
Hope it is useful, feel free to ask more questions.
Good luck.
Regards
