What Does My Pregnancy Ultrasound Report Indicate?

default
Posted on Fri, 3 Nov 2017
Question: Hi My wife had the 20 weeks pregnency ultrasound . Everything went well the sonographer said everthing was fine and the report was normal too . The sonographer also mentioned no lip cleft in specific while observing the scan .
I came back home and looking at the scan pictures and somehow worried on the Nose / Lip Scan Image and in a worry that the baby might have Cleft lip as I can see a small Gap on the upper lip .
I have attached the image as well for your referrance .
Could you please look and tell me if the baby had any Cleft lip.

Thanks ,
doctor

Hi Doctor ,

Thanks for the answer . I m really nervous and thinking about it and caused a lot of anxiety .

Just to ease the thinking can I know what is that black gap near the tip of the upper lip . In another image it looks like the black gap is extended slightly towards bottom of lip .
If it is Cleft lip will the gap will be more visible , in my case that gap looks like very very small and not completely going down.IS that the reason when you said there is no cleft lip . could you provide more details on diagnosis so that I can completely leave it . Thanks Doctor.

Sorry to ask you details . It is my anxiety causing me thinking a lot on this .
Hope you wil understand . Thanks for confirming there is no Cleft lip . Hi Doctor ,

Its me again.By the way there are 2 images i attached .

Regards,

doctor

Brief Answer:
Yes you are right.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
I have seen both your reports and what you said is very right, one gap is very small and other is it is not going down, so most likely it is not cleft lip.
But your pictures are not very clear.
Are you having other pictures for the same?
Hope this will decreased your anxiety.
Hope found useful.
Good luck.

Hi Doctor ,

Thanks for answering . I don't have any other image .

I only have these two . If it is not cleft lip what could be that Gap . Is it normal to see that black gap near top of lip .

Is there a need for me to for another ultrasound (or) leave it as it is not cleft lip in your opinion.

Thanks,

Brief Answer:
Yes,it is normal gap.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
Sorry for the delay in my response.
Though it is very small gap between nose and upper lip which I think in future developed as a groove between nose and upper lip.
If you are still in doubt than we can go for repeat anomaly scan in good centre with only focus on lip in different positions to rule out cleft lip.
Hope found useful.
Good luck.
