What Does My Renal Scan Report Indicate?
Question: My renal scan has showed lobulation of both kidneys. What does his mean. The scan was due to abnormal labs. I am seeing a kidney specialist.

it is important to note that which labs were abnormal for which you went for an ultrasound. If serum creatinine is raised it shows renal dysfunction.
Just the presence of lobulation on the kidney could be part of normal variation in the structure of the kidney which may not be of any significance.
But it can also be a sign of kidney scars which may be due to urine infections in the past or related to other kidney disease.
So to differenciate if the lobulations are a part of the disease we have to corelate with these factors . like - presence of high BP, past history of urine infections and result of labs like urine routine examinations and serum creatinine levels.
