Gastrointestinal infection-medicines proper. Give ORS and Zinc supplement
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
It seems that your son is suffering from an acute gastrointestinal infection, as indicated by the diarrhea and the presence of pus cells in stool. Usually such infections take 5-7 days to recover. If the child loses water and salts, it can manifest with dehydration and loss of weight.
The mainstay of treatment is Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS). Dissolve a full XXXXXXX of Pedialyte (ORS) in 200 ml water and give continuously in small amounts. It would help in correcting the dehydration that has probably already occurred. If the child starts passing urine adequately i.e. 6 times or more within 24 hours, you would know that hydration is fine.
It seems that the child is not on exclusive breast feeding since the exclusively breast fed children seldom suffer from such infections. If there is an option, I would insist on trying to switch back to breast feeding. In a case like that of your child, breast feeding is a better option than giving ORS.
I have gone through the prescription. Rcifax (Rifaximin) and OF (Ofloxacin) are antibiotics and are right to be given. They would treat the bacterial infection that is present. Please complete the full course. Enterogermina contains benefical bacteria that replaces the good intestinal bacterial flora that have been killed alongside the bad bacteria as the antibiotics do their work. It is good to be given. Colicaid will reduce abdominal cramps if they occur and Crocin will reduce fever. I am unable to read the name of the other medicine.
Apart from the above, restricting milk intake and replacing it with lactose free formula or low lactose formula like Zerolac, for a week, should be helpful. Giving 2.5 ml of Zn-20 (contains Zinc) once daily for 7 days should be useful as it helps in the healing of the damage to intestinal epithelium that is likely to have occurred. Please visit the emergency department of a hospital if the child is not passing urine adequately or seems lethargic. It might need to be treated with intravenous fluids.
Hope that helps.

No need to worry if amount of fluid intake is equal to or more than output
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back.
Such infections generally take 5-7 days before any improvement is observed. I would insist you to be patient and to keep your observation on the amount of urine passed. If it is adequate, you need not worry. The medicines are proper and I have already suggested the changes. They need to be continued. Please discuss with your doctor if he feels it suitable to add a couple of doses of Lomotil (Diphenoxylate and Atropine) to the medication.
A stool culture with sensitivity should be more helpful in determining if the antibiotics being given, are effective for your son.
Hope that helps.
