Question: My wife and I both developed a sore tail bone a few days apart about 6 or 7weeks ago ...we haven't been doing anything different than we always have. My wife is 46 and I'm 47 my wife had a stool test done which tested positive having blood in it...do you have any ideas if it could be a viruse or why we both got the same issue?

Brief Answer:
need testing

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question.
I can not explain the sore tail bones occurring at the same time. Usually this occurs after a fall. I suppose it is possible that you both got an infection from food that caused some colonic or rectal irritation but that does not usually call tail bone pain.
In any case it is good that the xrays were normal.
The stool tests positive for blood are unusual in someone in the 40s, but with this finding in your wife she would need a colonoscopy to determine the cause of the bleeding unless there was a confirmed infection.
If she had a stool study showing an infection then she should have a repeat stool test for blood after the infection is treated. If she still has blood in the stool then she really needs a colonoscopy.
