What Does My Thyroid Test Level Indicate?
Question: My wife had TSH test result as 8.2 when tested 2 month back, doctor suggested to use eltroxin 50mcg, after using it for 2 months, the new test result shows 0.01. doctor asked to reduce to 25 mcg . I want to know how serious is this at this condition. She is always having leg pains. I would like to know if she uses the tablets, is it going to have any side effects in her life. What are the chances of conceiving? Can you suggest any good remedy for the leg pains. Thanks.
Brief Answer:
25 mcg would be fine

Hi, I am Dr Anshul Varshney , I have read your query in detail , I understand your concern.
She has hypothyroidism and 50 mcg dosage reduced her thyroid. So your doctor has correctly reduced it to 25 mcg.
I suppose, that would help her in controlling it well.
Once thyroid is well controlled, it won't hinder in conceiving.
For leg pains, i would recommend:
1. 25 hydroxy vitamin d levels
2. Serum calcium levels.
3. Fasting blood sugar.
This is my personal opinion based on details available here. If you still have any other query, you may please ask me.
Stay Healthy.
