What Does My Ultra-sensitive PSA Test Result Indicate?
Question: I recently took an ultra-sensitive psa test which came back at 0.036. Does this value mean that prostate cancer is detectable? thanks for your help.--
Brief Answer:
Detecting prostate cancer recurrence early
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Ultra sensitive PSA test gives a better chance to detect Prostate Cancer recurrence early and then to treat it effectively with salvage methods.
Ultra sensitive PSA value anything below 0.003 is considered as good.
Since your value is 0.036 I would recommend you do a CT scan of whole abdomen and blood for Prostate specific antigen test.
Hope I have answered your query.

Thank you for your reply Doctor. So, given my history-- this last psa result is considered 'detectable'- correct? Also, what would 0.036 be equal to if it was converted to a standard psa value?
-Thanks for your help.
-Thanks for your help.
Brief Answer:
positron emission tomography scan
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Ultra sensitive PSA value of 0.036 should be above the range of 4.0 ng/ml if converted to a standard psa value approximately.
I would recommend a whole body positron emission tomography (PET) scan in your case to find the site of recurrence.
