What Does My Ultrasound Scan Report Indicate?

Question: My 18 week ultrasound showed that my baby has an enlarged stomach. I have another scan in a month to check on it. No other problems were detected and all my blood tests and other measurements were perfect. What could this be? I'm so scared for my baby.
Brief Answer:
need further information
Detailed Answer:
Dear madam, welcome to healthcare magic.I understand your concern.
In my opinion if an isolated enlarged stomach detected in the second trimester is might not be significant.
But I need further information like:-
1)Is this your first pregnancy?
2)Was any abnormality detected in earlier scans?
Upload the scan report for better understanding.
Kindly provide me the information for further discussion.
Looking forward to hear from you.
Best regards....Dr.srilatha.

Yes, this is my first pregnancy. All my other scans have looked normal. Thank you!
Brief Answer:
TIFFA is done to detect fetal anomalies.
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, I got your information. It is good to know that all other scans are normal.
In my opinion, a detailed fetal anomaly scan called TIFFA(targeted imaging for fetal anomalies) is done between 18 to 24 weeks. It detects fetal anomalies if any upto 80%.
I hope TIFFA is done in your case but if not done get it done after discussing with your doctor.
Isolated stomach dilatation without any other abnormality on scan like any bowel abnormality, polyhydromnios might be normal.
So relax and don't worry.
Good luck....Dr.srilatha

So it can be normal for the stomach to measure large? My baby might be perfectly fine?
Brief Answer:
only stomach enlargement might be normal
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, I understand your concern.
In my opinion as there is no abnormality but for stomach enlargement it might not cause any problem.
But better it to be monitored with successive scans for the development of any other abnormalities like :-
1)bowel enlargement.
2)Fetal growth restriction.
3)Polyhydromnios.
So TIFFA and serial scans might help.
So relax for now and take care.
Hope this satisfies your query.
