Posted on Thu, 26 Nov 2015
Question: Hi, My wife is pregnant. We went for the ULTRA sound scan last week Friday (30/10/2015) and today as well (06/11/2015). However only the SAC is present and SAC size has increased. Attached is the report. Her LMP is 10th Sep'15. Is this a miscarriage? How should we interpret this situation? Please guide us.

Brief Answer:
Appears like miscarriage

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I saw the attached reports.

There should have been fetal pole with heart beat at this stage and so late and such high beta hCG levels.

This is miscarriage. Since only sac is present, this is called as blighted ovum in medical terms.

There is no hope of this pregnancy to continue.

I am sorry to have communicated it straight forward.

Let me know if you need anymore help.
