What Does My Ultrasound Scan Report Indicate?
Question: Went in for an ultrasound today after feeling pain like a ruptured cyst last night around 5pm. Ultrasound confirmed follicle rupture today. Iui scheduled for tomorrow. Is that too late?
Brief Answer:
Hi, I think it is a bit late.
Detailed Answer:
Hi, I think it is a bit late for IUI, because the rupture has already occurred. Egg will remain viable for 24 hours theoretically. So, there should be a sperm in the vagina within that time period. So, it is a bit late for IUI. Generally in IUI, we give snh injection for rupturing the follicles and do the IUI the next day. Rupture occurs around 34 to 36 hours after the injection. So, sperms are present in the vagina when egg gets released. A sperm is viable for 72 hours to fertilise the egg. Hope I have answered your question.
