What Does My Ultrasound Scan Test Report Indicate?

Question: Hello.. I am from XXXXXXX age 30, and in my first trimester of pregnancy.. my 10 weeks 4 days ultrasound showed a very healthy baby 36mm with movements and strong heart beat, so that's great.. it also mentioned an anterior placenta extending on the lower end.. My GYN didn't seem concerned at all and didn't even mention it, but what does it mean? Is too early to judge or is there some precaution I must take? Thanks in advance.
Brief Answer:
Precautions advised
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, thanks for trusting health care magic.
Yes if placenta is near os then take good rest avoid exertion as much as possible. Though every pregnant woman should do the same but it is all the more indicated in your case because of low lying placenta.
Also avoid intercourse and any kind of heavy weight.
Although it is too early to label it low lying placenta and better assessment will be at 18 week scan but precaution is always better.
Take care.

Hi doctor.. it wasn't mentioned as low lying placenta.. it just said anterior placenta extending on lower end.. I asked my GYN she said it wasn't covering the internal OS.. and probably would shift upwards and we would get a better picture in the 13 weeks scan as it was still forming.. I am taking care and avoiding intercourse as of now..
Brief Answer:
Keep taking precautions still
Detailed Answer:
That is even a better news and yes your gynaecologist is absolutely right that it will most likely migrate upwards by the time of delivery and will not be of an issue at all.
But as we say it- precaution is better than cure, keep taking all the precautions as advised.
All the best.
