Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.
I have read through your query in detail.
From your trans vaginal ultrasound report, there is a picture of the ovaries having a size slightly above normal. It can be said that the ovaries are showing borderline enlargement, especially the left ovary. Also there is mention of a dominant follicle in right ovary but left ovary shows multiple small follicles. This pattern seen in left ovary can be called as polycystic ovary pattern.
In polycystic ovary syndrome there is following
1. Presence of increased production of androgens or male sex hormones (clinical and/or biochemical). This causes increased hair growth in some women.
2. Ovarian dysfunction (oligo-anovulation and/or polycystic ovaries) and causes delayed or absent periods in many women.
3. There can be temporary infertility in this condition.
As mentioned in the report you have to get certain hormone tests done after clinical examination by your gynecologist. You might have some problems with hormones and this can be treated by consulting your gynecologist. This problem is very common in women and most women will have child within one year of starting treatment.
The pelvic inflammatory disease which is mentioned as cul de sac contains fluid also needs to be discussed with your doctor. Please maintain genital hygiene to avoid infections in uterus and ovaries.
Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.
Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.
Regards,
Dr.Vivek
