What Does My Urine Culture Report Indicate?

Question: Dear Sir, currently I am taking antibiotics like nitrofurintain and levifloxacun 750 once per day and conducted my urine culture which is attached. Do you think that urine culture report has been influenced due to antibiotics?

You have been taking antibiotics Nitrofurantoin and Leofloxacin and your recent urine culture has been reported to be sterile with no growth of organisms.

This suggest that the antibiotic which you have taken have completely eradicated bacterial infection which was detected in urine culture done few days back .

This is a positive sign of infection being controlled by the medications .

Thank you sir for your help and it helped me always.

My concern here is that i have noticed that when I am taking antibiotics and it never shows up anything on the urine culture and in fact this was the case when i had admitted to the hospital at that time also urine culture has been done but no growth has been shown even though my kidney was infected and also my testicles were swollen and also was in great pain. I also noticed that even 4 months ago also it shows up nothing but later after 1 weeks my situation with the pain while passing urine and also burning sensation.

This time also pain is there while passing urine.

I am not sure what can i expect and in the trap of this issue since long time. Please advise if the urine culture report can be affected by the antibiotics dose and infection may come quickly come back once doses stopped?

How can be sure that bacteria has been completely gone from my body? what do you advise on the medication further?

If you go through our previous discussion on your problems it is certain that you are a victim of Chronic Non Bacterial Prostatitis where there patient has symptom of Prostatitis and without any positive evidence of infection detected on all the relevant tests like urine culture ,semen culture etc .

This disease is characterized by recurrence and relapses in spite of taking tons of antibiotic making patient and treating physician to get frustrated .

I would suggest you to do Prostate Massage every day .This helps to discharge the prostatic secretion and helps to reduce the congestion of prostate and there by gives relief from pain .I have been following this modality of treatment in my patient of Chronic Prostatitis since last 40 years of my practice and getting satisfactory results .

You can discuss this modality with your treating Urologist .

Thank you very much for your response. Can you please educate me on the Chronic Non Bacterial Prostatitis when you say this term that means there is no bacteria but still patient will be having an issue but when I do urine culture when my issue is severe then my urine culture reports shows up bacteria like gram bacteria and started with E-Coli? Now its showing nothing but still i am having an issue with the prostraitis, I also completed my PSA test and it is very normal. Please see attached report.

When you say Prostate massage, is it similar to the masturbation? Sorry Sir, I am not educated enough about this term so really want to understand if I have sex or masturbate daily would that resolve my issue?

Chronic Nn Bacterial Prostatitis is a disease characterized by pain and inflammation of urine ith no cause being detected on all relevant tests and any any bacteria .

However there are acute exacerbation in the form of bacterial infection off and on where the urine or semen culture may detect bacteria.

The prostate massage is done by a close relative by introducing a gloved finger in rectum and massaging the prostate gently .This eliminates all the prostatic fluid through urethra and thus help to reduce congestion of prostate which is primary cause for symptoms .

Masturbation or sex does not massage the prostate and discharge the secretion completely .However it does help to some extent .

One last question, as u mentioned that prostate massage is done by close relative but my worry, they are not doctor and how they can be aware of the prostate position and how to give massage is another thing which they may not be aware of. So How would you recommend to do that? I always found rectal exam very painful as it gives feeling of loo whenever doctor put finger inside, very embarrassing moment.
