Again yesterday she had IGM positive and same as above Widal reports. The other test - CBC, serum cretanine, complete urine analysis are all normal. Widal S.Typhi (O) 1:80, S.Typhi (H) 1:80 S.Typhi (AH) Negative and S.Typhi (BH) Negative.
we are worried that this is the third instance of typhoid and have never heard of it (including our doctors) of similar cases. Please advise how bad is thypoid and what should we do to get to the root of the problem.
Go for bile and bone marrow culture...
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear
Thank you for asking query.
I read and understand your query, I am Dr Arun Tank answering your query.
Typhoid can relapse. I afraid the same thing in your wife. Does she have any symptoms? Mostly repeat antibiotics will be needed. Take hygienic well-cooked food and clean drinking water.
I advice you should go for culture from duodenal aspiration and bone marrow aspiration. Bile is the reserve of the Salmonella bacteria. Relapse occurs often from the bile. If the report says the growth of the salmonella operative removal of the gall bladder is the treatment of the choice. This may cure the problem permanently.
I will be happy to answer your further concern.
Thank you,
Dr Arun Tank.
