What Does "ovaries Not Visible" In A Pelvic Ultrasound Mean?
Usually a normal age related finding
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I read your query and I understand your concerns.
Following is my reply:
1) As the women's age increases and reaches 50 years, menopause phase happens and menses stop.
2) In some women who still menstruate, this is peri menopause which is accompanied by irregular cycles.
3) This period is also associated with decrease in the size of the ovaries which makes it difficult to see on pelvic ultrasound scan.
4) This is normal physiologic process at 50 years of age as you mentioned and no need to worry about it.
5) If you wish to show me the ultrasound scan report. Please scan and attach it along with this query.
Let me know if you have anymore questions.
Regards,
Dr. Soumya
Age related and adhesions
Detailed Answer:
Hi
After menopause the ovaries shrink. Hence difficult to find in pelvic scan as they become small.
The appendix surgery might have caused adhesions and hence difficult for approach of ovaries if they are adherents.
