Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that your father has UTI secondary to enlarged prostate.
I shall be happy if you can post me few more details to help me in making comments on your problem.
1) What is the residual urine volume reported in ultrasound scanning report.?
2) What is the size of prostate whether?
In patient with enlarged prostate the residual urine that remains in bladder is stagnated urine which gets infected causing all the symptoms of UTI. Though he has been taking antibiotics as per culture report these bacteria change their sensitivity pattern and become resistant to antibiotics to which once they were sensitive to.causing repeated episodes of UTI.
1)Presence of Oxalate and RBC suggests secondary to infection. If left untreated this may lead to formation of stones in bladder.
2) The only treatment option is to undergo endoscopic surgery of TURP.
This is a gold standard modality of treatment for enlarged prostate practised all over the world. No magnet is inserted while doing this surgery.Open surgery is out dated procedure and rarely done in certain conditions like very big prostate.
3) Though he has stents in his coronary arteries there is no risk as far as endoscopic surgery is concerned. The science of anaesthesiology is advanced and these surgeries are carried out routinely even though patient has stents ,undergone bypass surgeries and have cardiac problems .
I would advise you to get him operated at earliest so as to make his urinary passage free from obstruction due to enlarged prostate which is prime cause of his UTI. This will help in emptying the bladder completely during urination and avoid getting repeated episodes of UTI and improve his quality of life.
Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions ,
I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.
