What Does Persistent Thick Post Nasal Drip Indicate?

Nasal chronic infection
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your question on HCM
I do understand your concern
"As" per your clinical history is concerned you need a physical examination by an ENT doctor who will physically check if any polyp or growth present or not. He may do nasal endoscopy to look inside and may do nasal secretion culture test to ruled out any bacterial infection present or not.your doctor will prescribe you an antibiotics if infection present in culture report.other medication might help like nasal corticosteroid like fluticasone. If you have nasal polyp present then a course of oral steroid may help.you can take any OTC decongestants but do not make a habit of it.
To prevent it in future you can do few things at home-
1)Minimize contact with people who have colds. Wash your hands frequently with soap and water, especially before your meals. Carefully manage your allergies.
2)Avoid cigarette smoke and polluted air. Tobacco smoke and air contaminants can irritate and inflame your lungs and nasal passages.
3)You use a humidifier. If the air in your home is dry, such as it is if you have forced hot air heat, adding moisture to the air may help prevent infection.
4)You can mix one-half to one teaspoon of pickling or canning salt and a pinch of baking soda in a cup of lukewarm distilled or previously boiled water. Use this solution for nasal irrigation.
5)To remove mucus from the nasal passages you may do like this Put a pinch of freshly grated horseradish in your mouth. Hold it in your mouth until its flavor dissipates, and then swallow it. Repeat 2 times a day for about a week or until the infection clears.
Hope that helps

Hi,
Thanks for your follow up query
1)As per your query I may say that it is part of [ENT] but every doctor is not trained in endoscopy so consult with such doctor who is trained up in all endoscopic procedures.
2)You have mentioned that you do not want to use nasal sprays and in my own opinion I will advise you to go to root cause and treat that cause only then you may not be required it for ever. You may use XXXXXXX pot which is a good practice.
3)you have mentioned about allergy and in my opinion I may say that sometimes it can be due to fungal infection as well.
4)Finally i may say that do a complete investigation and take treatment as per cause only.
Hope that helps
