What Does Physiologic Uptake In Other Organs Indicate?
Question: I recently had an octreotide scan looking for neuroendorine abnormalties. The report states no abnormal radio tracer uptake in the chest, abdomen, or pelvis. There is physiologic radio tracer uptake in my liver, spleen, bowel kidneys and urinary bladder. No scintigraphic abnormalties identified. What does the physiologic uptake mean in my other organs?
Brief Answer:
It means it is normally taken up by these organs.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
It means it is normally taken up by these organs as these are metabolically active. This is normal and it is a normal natural physiological process.
It is good there are no abnormal sites of uptake.
In short, findings are normal and there is no need to be worried about.
Hope I have answered your query.
Take care
