Yes, it is very much possible because cytotec alone cannot cause abortion as all it causes is to increase uterine contractions but doesn't stop the growth of placental cells ( syncytiotrophoblasts and cytotrophoblasts) into the endometrium.
Ideally a set protocol should have been followed for medical abortion if the pregnancy was less than 49 days with mifepristone first and then after 36 hrs 800 mg of cytotec( misoprostol).
Now presently you are in a state of failed abortion and continued pregnancy.
I would like to know as to how many weeks of gestation you are carrying at the moment depending on your last menstrual period.
If its around 8-9 weeks now, and if its an unplanned pregnancy and you still would not like to continue the surgical option of D& C is available to you.
You may discuss the option with your physician and then take an informed decision.
