What Does Reddish Purple Bruise On The Right Leg Indicate?
Question: I was admitted to the hospital recently with low blood pressure 87/60 and heart rate of 155. They wouldn't let me leave until it went back up and the heart rate went down. The doctor asked if I was ever diagnosed with Afibrilation. I said no. He put me on Eliquis. I have a huge reddish purple bruise on my right leg. Does this mean that I have a blood clot?
Brief Answer:
It's likely a bruise due to eliquis
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Likely you are having atrial fibrillation and due to which you are put on oral anticoagulation, that tab eliquis. Due to blood thinning there is bleed under the skin which is giving this colour. This may occur spontaneously or due to slight trauma may be noticed or unnoticed. This is not a clot.
Hope this helps you and get back if you have any doubts.

Is this bruise and swelling caused by my condition from the eliquis? Could you explain this.
Brief Answer:
Yes likely due to eliquis
Detailed Answer:
Do you have any history of trauma?
Likely it's due to eliquis only since it's a blood thinner. It's better if you can upload the photo of bruise once.
