What Does Spotting Instead Of Menstrual Bleeding Indicate?
Question: Two months ago, I was very sure I was pregnant because I was having symptoms. I missed the first day of period, and I have never been late or missed a period before. The next day, I saw just a drop of blood, then the day after, I saw very black thick blood and regular blood after that. I booked an appointment immediately to see a gynecologist. I didn't say anything about the black blood but I told her I missed a day of period and the when it came it lasted 7 days. It is usually 5 days for me and always regular. She did a scan and virginal sample test. Everything came out fine except she said I have medium size fibroid and everything is fine. She said my husband and I should keep trying. Now this month, I am very sure I should be pregnant. I was supposed to start March 31. I didn't see my period. I just saw a drop of blood yesterday night. Just like it happen 2 months ago. I am afraid so what is going on. I can't wait till I get an appointment in case this is something that is urgent. I am 29 yrs old....
Brief Answer:
This is unlikely to be pregnancy
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for your query.
I have read you query and I understand your concerns.
Following is my reply:
1) This appears to be your regular periods and not pregnancy.
2) Having symptoms alone does not mean pregnancy necessarily.
3) Delayed cycles are possible and are normal to have delayed cycles once in a while with dark coloured blood as you described.
4) This does not appear to be pregnancy. If you still suspect pregnancy, please get serum beta hCG blood test done to confirm pregnancy.
I hope I answered you query and addressed your concerns.
Let me know if you wish to ask any further questions. I will be glad to help you.
Regards,
Dr. Soumya
